‘Slow – No Wake’ Rule Lifted on Medicine Lake May 9

Post Date:05/08/2014

Water levels on Medicine Lake in Plymouth have receded and the “slow – no wake” order has been lifted, effective May 9.

The Hennepin County Sheriff began enforcing the no wake rule May 2, requiring boaters to slow their speeds to 5 mph or less. Signs were posted at public access areas on the lake.

Speed restrictions on the lake go into effect when the water level reaches at least 889.4 feet for three consecutive days and are lifted when the water is below that level for three consecutive days. The cities of Plymouth and Medicine Lake adopted the slow no wake ordinance in 2001 to help protect the shoreline when water levels are unusually high.
