Site Hours

Extended weeknight hours, April through August. Hours and availability are weather permitting and subject to change.

• For residents of Plymouth, Medicine Lake, Wayzata and Long Lake only. Bring a driver's license or utility bill with a current address for proof of residency. No commercial haulers or landscapers.
  
  

• Materials must be separated, debagged and unloaded by the resident. Empty bags must be taken, there are no trash receptacles on site.

Note: We are finding dirt, rocks and lumber dropped in the yard waste site. These materials are prohibited and can cause serious damage to our equipment. Any loads found containing prohibited material will be rejected and could be subject to fines as well as denied future use of the site. 

If you are putting yard waste at the curb for collection by your garbage hauler, it will only be accepted in approved compostable bags made from kraft paper or in bags labeled ASTM D6400. Bags marked "biodegradable" or "degradable" do not meet standards of the new state law. Most home improvement and hardware stores carry compostable bags. View information about backyard composting.

What identification is needed?

• Residents: Bring driver's license or utility bill with Plymouth, Wayzata, Long Lake, or Medicine Lake address
  Landlords or business owners: Bring a utility bill or business card with Plymouth address
  

Why doesn't the Yard Waste Site accept grass clippings?

• Plymouth residents are encouraged to mulch their grass clippings back into the lawn to recycle the nutrients. At less than 2 acres, the Yard Waste Site is already at capacity and cannot accommodate grass clippings.

Why is the Yard Waste site only open Wednesday-Friday, after 3 p.m.?

• City staff at the Plymouth Maintenance Facility use the site, driveway and parking areas during the day. To avoid excess traffic conflicts, the site opens for residents after regular facility hours. The site is closed Mondays and Tuesdays so that city staff can grind wood, haul out materials and perform general cleanup at the site.

Why does the Yard Waste Site close at 6 p.m. during fall?

• During early spring and late fall, the amount of available daylight is decreased, especially when Daylight Savings time ends in early November. The site closes earlier during those seasons for the safety of residents who may be backing up vehicles and trailers in the dark.
