The following items are typically accepted in the free line (no cost to drop off these items). These items will be accepted during both Drop-Off Days – Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26.

• Bicycles and bicycle parts
• Paper to shred (shredding will be on-site) – no 3-ring binders or large binder clips, staples are okay
• Household light bulbs (limit of 25 bulbs): Led, halogen, incandescent, fluorescent, no ballasts
• Household batteries
• Used oil – motor oil, antifreeze and oil filters
• Unused winter deicing salt
• Small appliances: Blenders, coffee makers, toasters, crock pots; items must be working and in good condition
• Textiles: Bedding, sleeping bags, clean fabric; items must be in good, usable condition
• Clothing: Pants, tops, coats, jackets, shoes, hats; items must be in good, usable condition
• Purses and backpacks
• Household recycling and cardboard
  • Note: Recycling and cardboard are also accepted daily at the Recycling Drop-Off Site, which will be closed for this event

Note About Textiles and Home Goods: 

These items are not tax-deductible. Items are accepted by Salvation Army and must be in good, usable condition.

The following types of items are accepted in the pay line. These items will only be accepted Saturday, April 26. Any pay items brought Friday, April 25 will not be accepted.

This line has a per-trip fee of $50 per vehicle, or $100 per vehicle with a trailer or cargo van (maximum length to navigate turns for a vehicle with a trailer is 40 feet). Box trucks cost $325 per vehicle and may not be more than 25 feet in length. Note: Residents with both free and pay items on Saturday, April 26 should proceed to the pay line. 

Prepay Discount: Prepay online for Drop-Off Days to save time and money. Discounted prepay rate is available until 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 25.

• Tires (rims must be removed)

• BBQ grills (propane tank removed)
• Small engines: Lawn mowers, snow blowers, and leaf blowers (must be empty of gas and oil)
• Furniture, including couches
• Mattresses and box springs
• Undamaged lead acid (vehicle) batteries
• Electronics: televisions, computers, radios, audio and video equipment
• Cell phone and lithium-ion batteries
• Appliances (no commercial appliances): Stoves, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, water softeners (salt removed), water heaters
• Remodeling material and construction debris
• Carpet and carpet padding
• Exercise equipment, including treadmills
• Traditional household garbage

Entering the Site

All vehicles must enter on 23rd Avenue from southbound Fernbrook Lane only. To access the site, vehicles should turn onto Fernbrook Lane from Highway 55 and follow traffic signage to be routed to the site. Vehicles will not be able to turn onto Fernbrook Lane from County Road 6. 

For safety reasons, residents are asked to remain in their vehicles at all times (except to use portable restrooms).

• What form of identification is acceptable?
  A photo ID (such as a driver's license) or a utility bill with your Plymouth address.
  
  
• Do I need to bring my prepay receipt?
  Residents who prepay must bring their receipt (digital or paper copy) with barcode to be scanned, as well as proof of residency (photo ID, driver's license or current utility bill with Plymouth address). Residents without their prepay receipt will be asked to pay again at the day-of rate. 

• Can I use a trailer?
  There are sharp 90 degree turns along the route. A vehicle with a trailer must not total more than 40 feet in length and must be able to navigate easily, as if driving through the turns of a parking ramp. Download the Traffic Flow Map (PDF) to determine if your trailer will be able to make the turns. Trailers that are too large and not able to navigate may be turned away. • In what order should I load items into my vehicle?
  First, pack paper for shredding and used oil/antifreeze as well as electronics and vehicle batteries. Pack mattresses on the outer walls or the floor of the vehicle. Next, pack tires, small engines, scrap metal, construction material, furniture and appliances. Lastly, pack bikes, textiles, light bulbs and household batteries (free items) – these will be unloaded first. 

Residential waste only, no business waste.

The Yard Waste Site and Recycling Drop-Off Site are closed the day of this annual event.

The workers at the Drop-Off Day event include student and adult volunteers, city staff, and employees of participating businesses. The event is financially supported by a Hennepin County recycling grant, the City of Plymouth Solid Waste Fund, and payments from attendees.
