Project Update - May 29, 2025
Phase 1 of the 36th Avenue Rehabilitation Project is underway. The roadway is currently closed from Zachary Lane/East Medicine Lake Boulevard to the east entrance of Robbinsdale Armstrong High School.
Local access is available via Wellington Lane (north-south crossing at 36th Avenue). View a map of the Phase 1 closure and detour routes.
Construction Schedule
Below is a summary of construction activities for this week and a preview of planned work for next week. Please note schedules are weather-dependent.
Recap From the Week of May 26
- Street grading to prepare for curb and gutter
- Concrete curb work has started and will continue throughout the week
- Access to Wellington Lane will be reduced to one lane of traffic to allow for the construction and hardening of the concrete.
- Private utility work continues along the corridor.
Looking Ahead to the Week of June 2
- Concrete curb work will be complete
- Final grading of the road base will occur in preparation for asphalt paving of the roadway
- Installation of the first layer of asphalt pavement for 36th Avenue may begin
- Private utility work will continue in the Phase 2 area
- Advanced notice signage will be installed for Phase 2, which is expected to begin Monday, June 9. More information on this phase and road closures will be provided next week.
Reminder about driveway access: Properties with driveway access on 36th Avenue will not be able to utilize their driveway for up to 7 days while the concrete is curing. Property owners will be notified in advance of this work.
Nightly Bridge Closures
The Minnesota Department of Transit plans to close the 36th Avenue bridge over Highway 169 nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. View more information regarding this project on MnDOT’s website.
Project Overview
The City of Plymouth is improving roads, trails and utilities along 36th Avenue between Kilmer Lane and Zachary Lane/East Medicine Lake Blvd. Work will occur spring through fall 2025 in two phases:
- Phase 1: Zachary Lane/East Medicine Lake Blvd to Robbinsdale Armstrong east entrance (spring to mid-summer)
- Phase 2: Robbinsdale Armstrong east entrance to Kilmer Lane (June to fall)
