Project Update - March 11, 2025
On February 25, the City Council approved Bolton & Menk as the design consultant for the 2026 Street Reconstruction Project. As part of the preliminary engineering process, surveying and information gathering will occur this spring/summer in your neighborhood. Bolton & Menk will be using survey equipment to collect data on the existing street and utility infrastructure, and the city has hired the consulting firm Braun Intertec to collect soil and pavement samples.
You may notice some paint on the ground and survey stakes, and flags of different colors. These represent the utilities underground – please do not remove them until the project survey is completed. The data collected will be reviewed to confirm the scope of the project over the coming months.
Project Overview
This project involves reconstruction of the streets in the Birch Briar neighborhood as well as Highway 55 from 15th Avenue to Cottonwood Lane as shown on the maps above. Street reconstruction is an intensive project that completely rebuilds an existing street. The project will include installation of concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer improvements, and rehabilitation or replacement of the existing water main.
