Motorists can once again access southbound Interstate 494 from westbound Interstate 694. The ramp from westbound I-94/694 to southbound I-494 in Maple Grove is now open after being closed for repairs since early September.
Southbound I-494 traffic between I-694/94 and Highway 55 has also been shifted to the newly constructed lanes of southbound I-494. That section of southbound I-494 will remain open to two lanes while crews continue working on the interstate.
Motorists can expect off-peak lane closures in both directions for the remainder of this year’s construction, which is scheduled to be completed by late November.
The work is part of a two-year construction project on I-494 that includes:
- Repairing the pavement on the interstate
- Adding a third lane on I-494 between Highway 55 and I-94/694
- Building noise walls along the interstate
Motorists are advised to drive carefully through the work zone.
