Learn About Hosting a Night to Unite Block Party at June 6 Meeting

Post Date:05/29/2013

While Night to Unite is a few months away, the Plymouth Police Department is already preparing to help residents plan for the August 6 event.

The Police Department will host a Night to Unite planning meeting 7 – 8 p.m. June 6 at the Public Safety Building, 3400 Plymouth Blvd. The meeting will provide neighbors with the chance to gather ideas, ask questions and learn about successful events that have been held in other neighborhoods.

Attendees will also get information on CHAD stickers, File-of-Life, Bike Helmet Program, the Public Safety Citizen’s Academy, Home Alone Workshops and the Smokebusters programs.

On July 25, a final meeting will be held for all Night to Unite organizers at the Plymouth Creek Center, 14800 34th Ave. N. One representative from each party should attend the final meeting to pick up complimentary t-shirts and receive updates.

2013 Night to Unite
The traditional Night to Unite afternoon open house will be held 2:30 – 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 6 at the Plymouth Creek Center. During the evening neighbors will enjoy block parties to get to know one another and show their commitment to preventing crime in their neighborhood.

“Night to Unite is one of the best nights of the year. Strong neighborhoods add to the quality of life and enhance safety. Last year, 133 Plymouth neighborhoods participated in Night to Unite. It was the city’s largest celebration,” said Police Chief Mike Goldstein.

Neighborhoods are encouraged to register their event with the Police Department.
