Park Development & Renovations

Northwest Greenway Phase 6

Plymouth Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce the last gap for the Northwest Greenway is to be constructed in 2025. The project is approximately .37 miles in length with trail, two boardwalks and a rest stop.

Timeline

Bid Approval and Construction Authorization to City Council for approval at the January 28, 2025 meeting
Construction Starts, mid-February 2025
Substantial Completion by September 30, 2025
Final Completion by November 21, 2025

Project Updates

March 19, 2025 - Contractors will be clearing brush and trees within project limits through March 31, 2025.
April 4, 2025 - Construction will start mid-April on boardwalks, weather permitting.

Lake Camelot Park Renovations

Plymouth Parks & Recreation hosted two open houses this fall to discuss options for the Lake Camelot Park Renovations scheduled for 2026. The Master Plan was approved by City Council on November 26, 2024. The City applied for a Public Waters Work Permit to replace the South Boardwalk with the DNR on November 5, 2024. The DNR provided a Permit Application Findings of Fact (PDF) on January 29, 2025 denying the application.

Schmidt Woods Park

Project Updates

July 18, 2024 - For the next two weeks, the contractor will focus on storm sewer and grading trails. City staff will be cleaning up storm debris within the park.
July 30, 2024 - As a result of the storm, more trees have been found to be compromised and will need to be removed. The city's contractor will be responsible for those removals in the coming weeks.
August 1, 2024 - For the next two weeks, the contractor will focus on shed foundation, trail subgrade preparation and concrete work.
August 15, 2024 - Work is progressing on the site with footings for the shelter and shed poured this week. Grading will continue and concrete work should begin early the week of August 19th.
August 29, 2024 - Grading and concrete work will continue on site and electrical work to begin. Playground installation likely to start mid-September.
September 12, 2024 - Concrete work continues. Playground and shed installation to begin next week. Shelter installation could begin the week of September 23. Storm damaged trees to be removed next week.
October 11, 2024 - Playground and surfacing installation are complete. Shed and shelter installation will continue until complete. Final grading and backfilling ongoing until finalized. Trees and shrubs to be planted the week of October 14, with seeding and plug planting following that.
October 25, 2024 - Final grading is ongoing, tree planting is complete, slit seeding the prairie, plug planting and bench and picnic table installation will occur over the next couple of weeks.
November 7, 2024 - Trail correction in the southwest corner of the park will happen as soon as possible, CenturyLink still needs to bury their line so final seeding can take place, final touches on the park will happen the week of November 18.

Active Recreation: Cricket Pitch with overlapping soccer fields, three lighted pickleball courts, two lighted tennis courts, hockey rink with basketball hoops for multi-purpose use
Passive Recreation: Skating, Sledding Hill, Strider Bike Course, Trails with direct connection to Chankahda Trail and Meadow Ridge Elementary
Recreation Support Spaces: Four Season Restroom Building, Plaza, Picnic Shelters, Shade Structure, Parking Lot
Landscaping: Tall Native Prairie, Wetland Restoration, Pollinator Seed Restoration
