Four New Plymouth Firefighters Take the Oath of Office

Plymouth firefightersThe Plymouth Fire Department welcomed four new firefighters to the department at the June 11 City Council meeting.

Daniel Erhard, Steven Nelson, Timothy Peterson and Daniel Schnuettgen, recruits who successfully completed a one-year training program and probationary period were sworn in by the city clerk.

“Becoming a Plymouth firefighter takes a significant commitment of time and personal dedication,” said Plymouth Fire Chief Richard Kline. “Applicants must complete a comprehensive selection process that includes interviews, a physical ability test, a background investigation, and psychological and medical examinations.”

Completion of in-house orientation and training, as well as formal coursework, including Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations and First Responder, are required for new hires.

There are currently 70 part-time, paid-on-call firefighters serving the City of Plymouth. For more information, call the Plymouth Fire Department at 763-509-5120.
