Plymouth Police, Fire Departments to hold ‘Night to Unite’ Open House

The Plymouth Police and Fire departments will hold a free open house 2:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Plymouth Creek Center, 14800 34th Ave. N.
A kickoff to the annual Night to Unite celebration, the open house will feature a variety of entertainment for children, including two bouncy moon walks and games with prizes. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet a K-9 unit and tour a squad car, North Memorial Aircare helicopter, ambulance, water-rescue craft and SWAT vehicle. Emergency service professionals will be present to answer questions and discuss their roles in the community.
Tentatively scheduled, the helicopter will arrive at 2:30 or 3 p.m., a SWAT demonstration will be held at 3 p.m., a K-9 unit demonstration will be held at 4 p.m. and a second SWAT demonstration will be held at 4:30 p.m.
Local restaurants will offer complimentary food samples, games and coupons.
“We designed the open house to be a fun learning experience for all ages and we appreciate our local businesses that have helped make this a free event for the public,” said Police Chief Mike Goldstein. Visitors are encouraged to bring a back-to-school supply or nonperishable food item to be donated to Interfaith Outreach and PRISM.
As part of the annual Night to Unite event, neighborhoods across Plymouth will host block parties from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
