When daylight savings time ends at 2 a.m. this Sunday, Nov. 2, residents will have to set their clocks back one hour in order to maintain the correct time. The Plymouth Fire Department reminds residents that when they change the clocks, they should also change the batteries on their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
In addition to replacing batteries in all alarms, residents should test and vacuum them. The Plymouth Fire Department recommends replacing the alarms every 10 years, or per the manufacturer’s guidelines. Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home.
For assistance in reaching alarms or determining proper placement, or for help in putting together a home fire escape plan, call the Plymouth Fire Department for a free at-home visit, 763-509-5120. In an emergency, call 911.
