The Plymouth New Hope Little League World Series contenders received a hero’s welcome at the Sept. 28 Plymouth City Council meeting. The team travelled to Williamsburg, PA in August to compete in the World Series after clinching the Midwest regional championship in Indianapolis.
The 12 year-olds, all residents of Plymouth and New Hope, were selected for the All Star team in June. With the help of their four coaches and the support of their families they became one of only six Minnesota Little League teams to make it to the World Series in 64 years.
Noting that the young men represented their cities and state well throughout the competition, Mayor Kelli Slavik read a proclamation naming Fri., Oct. 1, 2010 Plymouth-New Hope Little League Appreciation Day.
