Post Date:01/25/2024 9:00 a.m.

Update - 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25: The Fire and Ice Medallion has been found. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s hunt.

Head outdoors and embark on a treasure hunt. The 14th-annual Fire & Ice Medallion Hunt begins Thursday, Jan. 4.

Participation Instructions

Clues will be posted on this page of the city website and the city's social media platforms each Thursday during the month of January (Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25), or until someone finds the medallion.

A $250 prize will be awarded to the first sleuth who finds the medallion.

There is no need to register or pay to participate. Learn more about the Fire & Ice winter festival.

Note: The medallion is hidden on city property. The medallion is hidden in such a way that it is not out in the open. Staff does not uncover it after a snowfall to make it more visible. Participants should be able to wipe away any snow to find the location of the medallion. The person who finds the medallion should contact Plymouth Parks and Recreation at 763-509-5200.

Clue #1: Jan. 4

Even though there is not much ice or snow,

On ahead the hunt must go.

In a Plymouth park the Fire & Ice Medallion hides,

So, start your search and get outside.

Clue #2: Jan. 11

We are back again with clue #2

Do not forget to enjoy the view.

A lot of cities have great trails to test

But we think Plymouth has some of the best.

Grab a compass and pick the right direction,

To find the prize you must pay attention.

Near prairies and meadows, and aspens and elms,

Now you are closer to the medallion’s realm.

Clue #3: Jan. 18

South and east were not quite right,

but if you headed north and west you found the site.

You might come across a difficult course,

get past that challenge and you’re near the source.

A shelter, birds, and boardwalks – this park is quite big,

don’t be afraid to move a branch or twig.

The medallion is waiting for searching eyes,

hit the trail to secure the prize.

Clue #4: Jan. 25

Three clues down and here’s one more,

so listen closely to number four.

First make sure you are at the right park,

if it’s the Northwest Greenway you’ve hit the mark.

Past a bunch of trees that decided to split,

and by a scene where water likes to sit.

Near something growing, but not terribly tall,

holding on to what is usually lost in fall.

The temps are high and paths are clear,

find the medallion and we all will cheer!
