Plymouth seeks applicants for Ward 3 City Council vacancy

Gavel in the Plymouth Council ChambersThe City of Plymouth is accepting applications from residents interested in serving the remainder of the current Ward 3 City Council term, which expires Jan. 6, 2025.

Applications for the position are due 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6. The Plymouth City Council is set to interview applicants Tuesday, March 12 with the intention of appointing a new council member to fill the seat that evening.

The Plymouth City Council declared the Ward 3 seat vacant at its Feb. 20 City Council meeting and directed staff to begin accepting applications to fill the vacancy. The seat was previously held by Ward 3 Plymouth City Council Member Jim Davis, who resigned Feb. 12 due to recent health challenges.

To be eligible, applicants must live in Ward 3 – the southeast quadrant of Plymouth – and must have resided there at least 30 days. Applicants must also be age 21 or older and an eligible voter in the City of Plymouth.

The Plymouth City Council has expressed interest in appointing a resident who does not intend to run for office this fall.
