The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) is pleased to announce the 2013 Communicator of the Year – Margie Vigoren, retired City of Plymouth Environmental Education Coordinator. The announcement was made on May 20 at the 31st annual MAGC-sponsored Northern Lights Banquet.
The Communicator of the Year award recognizes an individual who has helped build public trust in government by effectively presenting accurate, timely and meaningful information.
Vigoren was nominated by Helen LaFave, communications manager for the City of Plymouth. Vigoren retired from the City of Plymouth on March 15. Vigoren’s 22-year career in government communications embodied a commitment to providing the public with useful, quality information. She was an excellent steward of taxpayer dollars and extended resources by enlisting community volunteers and often collaborated with other jurisdictions, nonprofits, schools, faith organizations and many others, according to LaFave.
"On a daily basis, Margie exemplified all the best in public service and government communications,” said LaFave. “She possessed a strong work ethic, ability to clearly articulate complex issues and technical information, and upheld a commitment to serving the public.”
