The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced that motorists traveling on Schmidt Lake Road near I-494 in Plymouth will encounter a detour in both directions beginning Monday, June 22.

Schmidt Lake Road between Cheshire Lane and Underwood Lane will be closed to traffic until late July 2015, weather permitting. The closure is needed while crews reconstruct the southbound side of I-494 over Schmidt Lake Road.

Schmidt Lake Road Detour: 

• Westbound traffic on Schmidt Lake Road will be detoured to southbound Northwest Boulevard, westbound County Road 9/Rockford Road and northbound Fernbrook Lane. 
• Eastbound traffic on Schmidt Lake Road will be detoured to southbound Fernbrook Lane, eastbound County Road 9/Rockford Road and northbound Northwest Boulevard.
