City Accepting Applications for Public Safety Citizens Academy

Applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Public Safety Citizens Academy.The City of Plymouth is accepting applications for the Public Safety Citizens Academy – a free, 36-hour, 12-week course that meets 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 8.

The course is open to adults 18 and older who live or work in Plymouth. All applications are subject to a criminal history check.

Topics covered include patrol operations, K9 unit, police tactics, use of force, narcotic enforcement and SWAT. Hands-on activities include the opportunity to go on a police ride along and tours of both police and fire services.

To apply, download an application from plymouthmn.gov/citizensacademy. To request an application to be mailed, contact Community Relations Officer Jim Long at 763-509-5135 or jlong@plymouthmn.gov with the applicant’s name and address.

Application deadline is Thursday, Sept. 1 or until the class is full.
