A snow emergency has been declared. Full city snow removal is set to begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19. City crews have been plowing and salting main and secondary roadways since 4 a.m. Thursday.
A snowfall of 2 inches or more prompts a snow emergency. While each snow event is unique, for a typical snowfall of 2 inches or more, city staff aims to have streets and cul-de-sacs cleared within nine hours after snow stops falling.
Please stay safe and drive carefully.
Seasonal Reminders
- Keep garbage/recycling carts out of the street.
- Remove items in the right-of-way (basketball hoops, landscaping and more) to prevent plow damage.
- Help keep fire hydrants clear and remove snow from around mailboxes.
- Wait to shovel until the street is plowed to mitigate duplicative shoveling.
- It is illegal to shovel snow into the street.
- Use salt wisely: One 12-ounce coffee mug of salt is enough to cover 10 sidewalk squares or a 20-foot driveway. Salt only works at temperatures above 15 degrees Fahrenheit.
