On Nov. 12, Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners (IOCP) will launch its 16th Sleep Out campaign. “Helping Families, Creating Hope” is the theme for this year’s campaign, which runs Nov. 12 - Dec. 31.
With a campaign goal of $1.8 million, IOCP hopes to help 1,500 families achieve long-term stability and hope for a brighter future.
Kick Off
Kickoff Rally, Sat., Nov. 12, 6 - 8 p.m., Oakwood Playfields, 1700 Co. Rd. 101 N., Plymouth. Kim Insley from KARE 11 will emcee the event, which will include food, live music, and activities for all ages followed by a “poverty simulation” at IOCP. Everyone is welcome to gather pledges and attend the communitywide sleep out afterward.
- Businesses in the area including General Mills, Upsher-Smith, and Cargill will host their own Sleep Out events and raise money for the campaign.
- Local businesses will also join in the effort by sleeping out, collecting donations and helping to create awareness of the struggling families in our community. On Nov. 19, Sunsets in Wayzata will host a sleep out for local bankers. Sunsets will donate a portion of its proceeds for the day.
The Sleep Out has become the community’s response to the growing need around us. If you would like to get involved with the Sleep Out by hosting an event or making a donation, please contact Jill Kohler at jkohler@iocp.org or 763-489-7512.
